Rifle Killed 48" Bull Moose
This is the largest bodied moose I ever shot . The previous evening we spent 90 minutes calling back and forth to each other . I was trying to get him to come out of the trees . I could see the top of his rack above the black spruce ,but he was too cagey. The next evening I made a few calls where I first stepped out onto the bog . Two hours later I came back and he was smelling the ground almost exactly where I called from. One hind quarter weighed 196 lbs.without the leg below the hock. 50 yards.

This guy took two seasons to figure out . He was probably the oldest moose I ever shot , maybe the wariest. I made one cow call and immediately got an absolute ROAR back . He was very close and really surprised my 10 year old son. I think he knew we were trouble as he refused to step out for a look.
Next year I made a few calls the night before , then walked back to my tent . Came back at 10 o'clock next morning , made a few calls and started taking pictures. Buddy came running up , but quiet as a mouse . Turned around and there he was. 45 steps.

I shot this guy within 100 yards of my camp site . I spent the day walking and calling . Just before dark I tried a bull grunt out of desperation and sure enough got one back . By grunting and walking I was able to figure out just where he was. He was holed up at the edge of a small bog with a big cow. One shot . 60 yards.

I got a few answers a couple days earlier at this spot. When I came back I cow called while I walked as the woods was pretty thick. This guy answered a couple times as he worked his way across a flooded alder bed. 45 yards. Then I used his carcass to test the penetration capabilities of a 740 gr. 6.5" long arrow shot from my 57# slingshot. See photos for the results.
Rifle Killed 54" Bull Moose
This moose came to a call made from a wet shoe lace and a Hawaiian Punch can . It sure didn't sound like a cow , but this guy came running up . One shot . 50 yards .

My son and I got lucky on this guy . We just couldn't find a moose with a good rack that week . With 2 hours to go before we had to pack it in we heard a low volume grunt . I was pointing out the direction and noticed this moose looking at me 33 yards away . Shot him once and he immediately put his head down and charged. I turned and told Adam to run behind a tree and he slipped and fell . When I turned back the moose had stopped after only 1 or 2 jumps . I had destroyed his shoulder and he had stopped while I was looking away .

Stepped into an opening and saw this moose pull up about 100 yards away . His rack looked pretty nice through the scope but turned out to be a mulligan upon closer examination .
Rifle Killed 43" Bull Moose.
We walked up on this guy as he was running by . Looked a lot bigger than he was . Took some ribbing over this one.
Rifle Killed 44" Bull Moose
We had a type of snipers nest on top of a huge domed outcropping of granite looking down on a wide open clearing . This guy came up out of a 900 foot deep ravine after a few calls .He was at least 300 yards off , but I had a Harris bipod on my gun . I shot hit him just to the side of his breastbone and the bullet traveled the full length of the moose and lodged just under the hide on his hind quarter . He didn't even seem to flinch and I assumed I missed . Then he turned broadside and I hit him and knocked him down.
